Orwellianism

Orwellianism refers to a society characterized by oppressive government control, constant surveillance, and the suppression of individual freedoms, inspired by George Orwell’s novel *1984*. It involves the use of propaganda, misinformation, and the alteration of truth to maintain power and manipulate perceptions. In such a society, privacy is eroded, dissent is discouraged, and language is often distorted to limit thought. The term serves as a cautionary concept highlighting dangers in unchecked authority and the potential loss of personal autonomy in the face of pervasive surveillance and control mechanisms.
