Ortho Tri-Cyclen
Ortho Tri-Cyclen is a prescription hormonal contraceptive pill used to prevent pregnancy. It contains a combination of estrogen and progestin, which work together to stop ovulation (the release of an egg). It also thickens cervical mucus to make it harder for sperm to reach an egg and alters the uterine lining to reduce the chance of implantation. The pill is taken in cycles, typically for three weeks with active hormones, followed by one week of placebo or no pills, during which a woman usually has a period. It’s effective when used correctly but does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
