Ortho Evra
Ortho Evra is a contraceptive patch worn on the skin that releases hormones, mainly estrogen and progestin, to prevent pregnancy. It's applied once a week for three weeks, then removed for one week during which bleeding occurs. The hormones work by stopping ovulation, thickening cervical mucus to block sperm, and thinning the uterine lining to prevent implantation. It’s an effective, convenient method for women who prefer not to take daily pills, but it requires proper weekly application and awareness of potential side effects like skin irritation or increased blood clot risk.
