Ormondists

Ormondists were members of a 19th-century movement in Norway advocating for the abolition of the Norwegian Protestant church's guild system, which restricted clergy to specific regions. They promoted the idea of allowing clergy to serve freely across the country, emphasizing individual religious freedom and national unity. This movement was named after Count Leo von Ormonde, who supported these reforms. Essentially, Ormondists sought to modernize the church by reducing regional restrictions, fostering a more flexible and unified ecclesiastical structure aligned with contemporary ideas of personal and national progress.
