Orion Launch Abort System

The Orion Launch Abort System (LAS) is a safety mechanism designed to quickly pull the Orion spacecraft away from its rocket if a problem occurs during launch. It uses powerful engines and rockets to rapidly accelerate the spacecraft away from danger, ensuring the crew's safety. Once the threat has passed or the spacecraft has reached a safe altitude, the LAS detaches, allowing the spacecraft to continue its journey. Essentially, it’s a rapid-response safety feature that acts like an emergency exit to protect astronauts from a potential launch failure.
