originator of CiteSeer

CiteSeer was created by researchers at the Pennsylvania State University in the late 1990s. It was developed by researchers George Karypis and L. S. Davis to improve how academic papers are organized and found online. Like an intelligent digital library, it automatically collected, indexed, and tracked academic papers and their citations. This allowed researchers to easily discover relevant research and see how different papers are connected through citations. Essentially, the creators built CiteSeer to enhance access to scientific knowledge, making it easier for researchers to find and analyze scholarly articles.
