Organolithium Compounds

Organolithium compounds are chemical substances where lithium atoms are bonded directly to carbon atoms in organic molecules. They are highly reactive and used mainly in laboratories and manufacturing to create new chemical compounds, such as medicines or plastics. Due to their reactivity, they can easily donate electrons, enabling them to initiate important reactions like forming carbon-carbon bonds. Because of their sensitivity, they must be handled under controlled conditions, usually in inert atmospheres like nitrogen or argon, to prevent unwanted reactions with moisture or air.
