The Organismo de los Estados Americanos, known in English as the Organization of American States (OAS), is a regional organization founded in 1948 to promote regional solidarity, peace, democracy, and development among countries in the Americas. It encourages political stability, human rights, security, and economic growth through dialogue, cooperation, and shared initiatives. Comprising 35 member nations, the OAS provides a platform for countries to collaborate on common challenges, address conflicts diplomatically, and uphold democratic principles across the Western Hemisphere.
