Organ of Corti

The Organ of Corti is a specialized structure inside the cochlea of the ear that converts sound vibrations into electrical signals. It contains tiny hair cells arranged in rows, which move in response to sound waves traveling through the fluid inside the cochlea. When these hair cells move, they generate nerve signals that are sent to the brain, allowing us to perceive sounds. The Organ of Corti is essential for hearing, acting as the critical sensory interface that transforms mechanical sound energy into the neural signals our brain interprets as different sounds.
