Þorfinnr Karlsefni
Þorfinnr Karlsefni was a Viking explorer from Iceland known for his attempts to establish a settlement in North America around the early 11th century. He led an expedition to what is now Newfoundland, Canada, which he called Vinland due to the wild grapes he discovered there. Þorfinnr's journey is documented in the Norse sagas, which recount the Norse exploration of North America prior to Columbus. Though his efforts to create a permanent settlement were ultimately unsuccessful, his voyages remain significant in the history of early trans-oceanic exploration.
