Oregon Country

Oregon Country was a large region in North America, covering present-day Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and parts of Canada and other U.S. states, claimed by both Britain and the United States in the early 19th century. Established through negotiations and treaties, it was initially a fur trading and exploration area. The region's boundaries remained uncertain for years, leading to joint occupation agreements. Ultimately, the Oregon Treaty of 1846 set the boundary along the 49th parallel, allowing U.S. settlement and development. Oregon Country's settlement paved the way for westward expansion and statehood in the Pacific Northwest.
