Orange marches

Orange marches are parades primarily held in Northern Ireland, typically around July 12th, to celebrate Protestant heritage and commemorate King William of Orange’s victory in the Battle of the Boyne (1690). Participants often wear bright orange sashes and conduct marching bands, expressing cultural identity and religious tradition. These events can sometimes lead to tensions with Catholic communities due to historical and political differences. While they are meant to be festive gatherings for many, others see them as symbols of division, reflecting the complex history of Northern Ireland.
