Optison
Optison is a medical imaging contrast agent used during ultrasound tests to improve the clarity of images of the heart and blood vessels. It contains tiny gas bubbles stabilized by a liquid shell, which enhance the ultrasound signal by reflecting sound waves more effectively than blood alone. This helps doctors better visualize structures, diagnose conditions, and assess blood flow. Optison is injected into a vein just before the scan and is generally safe, with few side effects. It provides more detailed and accurate images, aiding in more precise diagnosis and treatment planning.
