Optional Practical Training (OPT)

Optional Practical Training (OPT) is a program that allows international students in the U.S. with F-1 visas to gain work experience in their field of study after graduation. Students can apply for up to 12 months of work authorization, with an additional 24 months available for certain STEM graduates. OPT enables students to apply their academic knowledge in a professional setting, enhancing their education and improving job prospects. To participate, students must submit an application to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and meet specific eligibility criteria.
