optimistic bias

Optimistic bias is the tendency for people to believe that they are less likely to experience negative events and more likely to experience positive outcomes compared to others. For example, someone might think they are less likely to get sick or be involved in an accident than the average person. This mental shortcut helps maintain a positive outlook and can boost confidence, but it can also lead to underestimating risks and making less cautious decisions. Essentially, it's our subconscious way of thinking “things are more likely to turn out well for me.”
