Optimality Models
Optimality Models are tools scientists use to understand how animals and plants make decisions that maximize their benefits while minimizing costs. For example, a bird might choose which food to eat or where to build a nest based on what offers the best advantage for survival and reproduction. These models predict the most "optimal" choice by considering factors like energy gain, danger, and effort involved. Essentially, they help explain natural behaviors by assuming that organisms are making decisions that improve their chances of success in their environment.
