Optical Line Terminal
An Optical Line Terminal (OLT) is a device at the service provider’s central office that manages and connects multiple fiber optic lines to deliver high-speed internet, phone, and TV services to customers. It acts as the main hub, distributing data through fiber optic cables to small boxes called Optical Network Units (ONUs) or Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) at customer locations. The OLT controls data traffic, ensuring efficient and reliable communication across the network, and supports multiple users simultaneously while maintaining high bandwidth and low latency.
