Optical Fiber Manufacturing

Optical fiber manufacturing involves creating thin strands of glass or plastic that can transmit data as pulses of light. The process starts with pure raw materials melted together to form a highly pure glass preform. This preform is then heated until it softens and is drawn or pulled into a thin, flexible fiber. During this process, protective coatings are applied to prevent damage. The resulting optical fibers are used in telecommunications to send large amounts of data over long distances with minimal loss, enabling high-speed internet, cable TV, and other communication technologies.
