optical emissions

Optical emissions are light waves emitted by atoms or molecules when they release energy after being excited. This happens when they absorb energy—such as from electricity or heat—and then return to a lower energy state, releasing photons (light particles) in the process. These emissions can produce visible light, like the colors in a neon sign or the aurora borealis, or invisible light, like certain types of ultraviolet or infrared radiation. Essentially, optical emissions are a way for atoms to "shine" as they transition between energy levels, creating the light we observe or detect in various scientific and technological contexts.
