opt-out class

An opt-out class is a type of legal settlement or program where a group of people is automatically included unless they choose to withdraw. For example, if a company offers a settlement for a large group of affected individuals, everyone is considered part of the class by default. Those who do not want to participate can "opt out" by taking specific steps within a set timeframe.
