OPS (On-base Plus Slugging)
On-base Plus Slugging (OPS) is a baseball statistic that combines a player's ability to get on base and hit for power. It adds together On-base Percentage (how often they reach base) and Slugging Percentage (how powerfully they hit). A higher OPS indicates a player is both good at avoiding outs and hitting for extra bases, making them more valuable offensively. It provides a quick way to evaluate a player's overall offensive contribution, with values around 0.700 considered average and above 0.900 considered excellent.
