Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom
Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom were military campaigns launched by the United States and coalition forces. Enduring Freedom began in 2001, primarily targeting terrorist groups like al-Qaeda in Afghanistan after 9/11, aiming to dismantle terrorist networks and establish stability. Iraqi Freedom started in 2003, leading to the removal of Saddam Hussein, with goals of ending his regime, eliminating suspected weapons of mass destruction, and promoting democracy. Both operations involved combat, stabilization efforts, and nation-building, with the broader goal of protecting U.S. interests and enhancing global security.
