Operation Urgent Fury

Operation Urgent Fury was the military invasion of Grenada by the United States in October 1983. The goal was to restore order after a violent revolution and political instability, and to protect American citizens, including students at a medical school. The operation involved coordinating ground, air, and sea forces, and was completed swiftly within a few days. It resulted in the ousting of the existing government and re-establishment of a government aligned with U.S. interests, while also demonstrating the U.S. military's readiness to act quickly in response to regional issues during the Cold War era.
