Operation Tomodachi
Operation Tomodachi was a U.S. military mission launched in March 2011 to assist Japan after the devastating earthquake and tsunami. "Tomodachi" means "friend" in Japanese, reflecting the partnership. The operation involved deploying ships, aircraft, and personnel to provide disaster relief, including delivering supplies, transporting rescue teams, and supporting recovery efforts. It was one of the largest international aid responses in U.S. history, demonstrating military cooperation and solidarity with Japan during a critical time. The mission helped save lives, aid displaced people, and rebuild infrastructure affected by the disaster.
