Operation Skyshield
Operation Skyshield was a series of U.S. military exercises conducted during the 1980s to test and demonstrate air defense capabilities against potential Soviet bombers and missile threats. The operation involved deploying advanced radar systems, fighter jets, and command centers to simulate defending North American airspace. Its goal was to evaluate the effectiveness of covert and overt defense strategies, improve coordination, and ensure readiness for potential attacks during the Cold War. Essentially, Skyshield was a preparedness effort to strengthen national security by practicing response scenarios against aerial threats.
