Operation Sealion
Operation Sealion was Nazi Germany’s planned invasion of Britain during World War II, devised in 1940. After invading and occupying much of Europe, Germany aimed to conquer Britain by launching an amphibious assault across the English Channel. The plan involved both air and naval strategies: the German Luftwaffe (air force) was to weaken Britain’s defenses, enabling the German navy to cross and land troops. However, the operation was never carried out, mainly due to the British Royal Air Force’s effective resistance and the failure to gain air superiority. Consequently, Britain remained independent and the invasion was abandoned.
