Operation Pacific Haven
Operation Pacific Haven was a humanitarian mission launched in 1996 to evacuate thousands of Iraqi Kurds who fled their homeland due to conflict and persecution. The U.S. military airlifted approximately 8,000 Kurdish refugees from northern Iraq to safe temporary residences in countries like Oman and later resettled many in the United States and other nations. The operation aimed to provide safety, humanitarian assistance, and a chance for resettlement for those fleeing violence, exemplifying international cooperation in responding to refugee crises.
