Operation Husky

Operation Husky was the code name for the Allied invasion of Sicily during World War II, which took place from July 9 to August 17, 1943. This strategic military campaign aimed to remove Italian dictator Benito Mussolini from power and gain a foothold in Southern Europe. The operation combined land, sea, and air forces, resulting in the successful capture of Sicily. The Allies faced resistance from German and Italian troops, but the operation ultimately paved the way for further invasions into mainland Italy, significantly weakening Axis control in the region.
