Operation Castor

Operation Castor was a military mission conducted by India in November 1971 to seize the strategic port of Dhaka in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). It aimed to establish control, eliminate Pakistani military resistance, and facilitate the overall campaign for independence. The operation involved a swift and coordinated attack by Indian forces, including airborne, land, and naval units, leading to the eventual surrender of Pakistani forces in Dhaka and contributing significantly to the creation of Bangladesh. It was a critical part of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.
