Operation Buffalo
Operation Buffalo was a series of nuclear tests conducted by the United States in 1956 at the Nevada Test Site. The goal was to study the effects of nuclear explosions, improve weapon design, and gather data on the energy output and environmental impact. The tests involved detonating several nuclear devices underground, in the atmosphere, and underwater. This operation contributed to advancements in nuclear technology and strategic military capabilities during the Cold War. However, it also raised concerns about nuclear safety and environmental contamination.
