Operation Barão do Rio Branco

Operation Barão do Rio Branco was a military campaign conducted by Brazil in 1906-1907 to resolve a border dispute with Bolivia over the Acre region, rich in rubber and resources. Brazilian forces aimed to assert control over the area, which was previously contested, and to prevent Bolivian advances. The operation resulted in Brazil establishing its sovereignty over Acre, expanding its territory into the region. This success helped Brazil secure a strategic and economically valuable border, shaping its national boundaries in the western Amazon and reducing regional tensions.
