OpenFog Consortium
The OpenFog Consortium was an industry organization focused on developing and promoting secure, reliable, and standardized methods for fog computing—an extension of cloud computing that brings data processing closer to where data is generated, such as in smart devices and sensors. This approach reduces latency, improves real-time decision-making, and enhances security. By creating open frameworks and best practices, the consortium aimed to enable seamless integration of devices, networks, and data analytics across various IoT (Internet of Things) applications like smart cities, manufacturing, and healthcare. In 2019, it merged with the Industrial Internet Consortium to unify efforts in industrial IoT innovation.
