Open Loop and Closed Loop Systems
Open loop and closed loop systems are ways to control processes. An open loop system acts without feedback; it performs a set task based on predefined instructions, like a washing machine running a cycle regardless of clothing cleanliness. A closed loop system uses feedback to adjust its actions; for example, a thermostat detects room temperature and adjusts heating to maintain a desired temperature. Closed loop systems are generally more accurate and adaptable because they continuously monitor and modify their operation based on actual results.
