open interval
An open interval is a range of numbers on the number line between two endpoints, say \(a\) and \(b\). Unlike a closed interval, it does not include these endpoints themselves. For example, the open interval \((a, b)\) includes all numbers greater than \(a\) and less than \(b\), but not \(a\) or \(b\). Think of it as a segment of numbers where the boundaries are excluded, representing a continuous set of values between two points without touching those points.
