OPDIVO
Opdivo (nivolumab) is a type of immunotherapy used to treat certain cancers. It works by helping the immune system recognize and attack cancer cells more effectively. Normally, the immune system can sometimes be limited in attacking cancer, but Opdivo blocks a specific pathway (PD-1) that cancers use to hide from immune cells. By blocking this pathway, Opdivo boosts the body's natural defenses to fight cancer. It is administered via intravenous infusion and is used for various cancers, including melanoma, lung, and kidney cancers.
