OnLive

OnLive was a cloud gaming service that allowed users to play high-quality video games streamed directly over the internet, without needing powerful hardware. Instead of running games locally on a console or PC, the processing was done on remote servers, and the gameplay was transmitted in real-time to the player’s device. This approach enabled access to demanding games from relatively modest devices like tablets or inexpensive computers. OnLive launched in 2010 but faced challenges with internet latency and competition, eventually shutting down in 2015, with some technology and assets acquired by Sony.
