One-Leg Stand Test
The One-Leg Stand Test is a field sobriety evaluation used by law enforcement to assess a person's level of impairment, typically from alcohol or drugs. The individual is asked to stand on one leg and raise the other about six inches off the ground while keeping their hands at their sides. They are timed for about 30 seconds, and officers observe for signs of imbalance, swaying, or putting the foot down. Difficulties or failure to maintain the position can suggest impairment, helping officers decide if further testing or action is necessary.
