Olympic fencing events
Olympic fencing includes three main events: foil, épée, and sabre. Each uses a different weapon and rules. In foil, touches are scored with the tip on the torso; in épée, the entire body is valid target, and double touches are allowed; in sabre, touches are scored with the edge or tip, targeting the head, arms, and torso. Matches are fought in bouts lasting three minutes or until a set number of points are scored (usually 15). Fencers wear protective gear and use strategic movements, quick reflexes, and tactics to outscore their opponents within the rules of each weapon type.
