OLT (Optical Line Terminal)

An Optical Line Terminal (OLT) is a device at the service provider’s central office that manages and sends internet, TV, and phone signals through fiber optic cables to multiple users. It acts as the main hub, distributing data efficiently and ensuring each customer receives their intended service. The OLT connects to smaller distribution points called Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) or customer premises equipment (CPE) located at homes or businesses. In essence, it orchestrates the flow of high-speed data over fiber networks, enabling fast and reliable communication over long distances.
