Olivette Oatman
Olivette Oatman was an American woman born in 1820 who was kidnapped by Native Americans as a child. She was taken from her Missouri home and lived with various tribes, learning their languages and customs. After many years, she was eventually rescued and reunited with her family. Oatman became known for her unique life experiences, especially her time living with the Apache and Mohave tribes, which she documented in her writings. Her story provides insight into the complex relationships and cultural exchanges between Native Americans and settlers during the 19th century.
