Oliver Hudson Kelley

Oliver Hudson Kelley was an American farmer and community leader born in 1826. He is best known for founding the National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry, commonly called the Grange, in 1867. The Grange was a social and advocacy organization that helped farmers unite to improve their economic and political interests, promote education, and oppose unfair practices by railroads and merchants. Kelley’s efforts significantly influenced rural and agricultural reforms in the United States, fostering community solidarity and advocating for farmers' rights during the late 19th century.
