Oliver Brown

Oliver Brown was the lead plaintiff in the landmark 1954 U.S. Supreme Court case, Brown v. Board of Education. The case challenged racial segregation in public schools, arguing that separating students based on race violated the Constitution's guarantee of equal protection under the law. Brown’s family sued after their daughter, Linda, was denied entry to a white-only school in Topeka, Kansas. The decision ultimately declared that racial segregation in public education is unconstitutional, helping to end legal segregation and promote racial equality in the United States.
