Oleg Sentsov
Oleg Sentsov is a Ukrainian filmmaker and activist known for his opposition to Russia's annexation of Crimea. In 2014, he was arrested by Russian authorities on charges widely regarded as politically motivated and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. International groups campaigned for his release, viewing him as a political prisoner. In 2019, Sentsov was released as part of a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine. He continues to advocate for Ukrainian sovereignty, human rights, and democratic values, remaining a significant figure symbolizing resistance and the fight for justice amid geopolitical tensions.
