Old Severn Bridge
The Old Severn Bridge is a suspension bridge that spans the River Severn, linking South Gloucestershire in England with Monmouthshire in Wales. Opened in 1966, it was built to improve transportation between England and Wales, replacing ferry crossings. The bridge is notable for its impressive height and length, facilitating the movement of vehicles across the Severn Estuary. In 1996, a new, larger crossing—the Severn Bridge—was opened nearby to handle increased traffic, leading to the old bridge being less congested. Today, it is a historic structure, appreciated for its engineering significance and scenic views.
