Old Kingdom of Egypt
The Old Kingdom of Egypt, lasting from around 2686 to 2181 BCE, is known as Egypt’s "Age of the Pyramids." During this period, powerful pharaohs ruled as divine kings, building grand tombs like the Great Pyramid of Giza. It was a time of strong centralized government, cultural flourishing, and advances in art, architecture, and administration. The society was highly organized, with a focus on religious beliefs about the afterlife. The Old Kingdom eventually declined due to political instability, climate change, and economic challenges, leading to a period of decline before later eras of Egyptian history.
