Olcott (Henry Steel Olcott)
Henry Steel Olcott was an American lawyer and journalist who became a prominent figure in the late 19th century for promoting Buddhist revival and education in Sri Lanka (then Ceylon). He co-founded the Theosophical Society, which sought to explore spiritual truths across religions. Olcott dedicated his life to studying Buddhism, helping establish schools and translating texts, aiming to preserve and modernize ancient traditions. His efforts significantly contributed to the resurgence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka and fostered intercultural understanding between East and West.
