
Olav II of Norway
Olav II of Norway, also known as St. Olav, was a 11th-century king who unified Norway and strengthened Christianity in the region. Ascending to the throne in 1015, he promoted church building, literacy, and efforts to centralize royal authority. His leadership helped shape Norway's national identity. Olav was killed in the Battle of Stiklestad in 1030 while defending his realm, and he was later canonized as a saint for his efforts to Christianize and unify Norway. His legacy remains influential, symbolizing Christian faith and national unity in Norwegian history.
