Oil lamps (Diyas)
Oil lamps, commonly known as diyas, are traditional illuminated devices made from clay or metal, often used in various cultures, especially during festivals like Diwali in India. They are filled with oil or ghee (clarified butter) and have a cotton wick that draws the fuel upwards. When the wick is lit, it creates a soft, warm light. Diyas symbolize the victory of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. Beyond their cultural significance, they have historical importance, as they were one of the earliest sources of artificial light before the advent of modern lighting solutions.
