Ohkay Owingeh, formerly known as San Juan Pueblo, is one of the 19 Pueblo tribes in New Mexico. It has a rich cultural heritage and is known for its traditional governance and vibrant arts and crafts, particularly pottery and weaving. The community has a deep connection to its ancestral land, which plays a significant role in their cultural identity. Ohkay Owingeh is also notable for its historical significance, being one of the first pueblos to reconnect with the outside world after the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. Today, the tribe actively promotes cultural preservation and economic development.
