Ohio legislature
The Ohio legislature is the state's lawmaking body, consisting of two parts: the Ohio General Assembly. It includes the State Senate and the State House of Representatives. Senators and Representatives draft, debate, and pass laws that affect Ohio residents. The General Assembly also reviews and approves the state budget and can check the governor’s actions. Legislators are elected by Ohio voters and serve specified terms. This structure helps ensure that laws reflect the diverse interests of the state's population and provides a system of checks and balances within state government.
